Intro Sequences!

Here's something to consider - your website's first impression on the user. How do you get the user to take notice of your website as soon as they see it? One way to immediately grab the user's attention is through the way your website introduces itself. I call these kinds of experiences intro sequences. It's a sequence that introduces the user to your unique website.

An intro sequence is similar to a commercial advertisement in that it's a way of getting your business' name known through a tasteful introduction. It's a way to show the user how unique your business is, and thus give them an experience that'll stick with them after they leave your website. It's a flashy way of showing off your digital business card to your website's visitors, and first impressions are very important.

The use of an intro sequence is a calculated decision. In today's day and age most people hate commercials. They're repetitive, annoying, and they're forced upon the viewer relentlessly. If you use an intro sequence, it must be short and to the point; keeping it under a few seconds in length is ideal. Most of all, it needs to be easily skippable. Intro sequences aren't for everybody, but they're something to consider for making good first impressions.

Through the use of CSS, JavaScript & jQuery, one can produce a memorable experience the first time a user visits your website. Taking a smart approach to this process is key to keeping the design of the website smooth and efficient. JavaScript & jQuery selectors make it easy to select the elements of your website for animation. Check out the sidebar to see some of the intro sequences I designed using this website. Well-implemented intro sequences can be quite spiffy!
